Why consider doing business with SignStimemovements?
Clients who approach us, often have the same questions.
what is the cost price for a finished watch?
what is the minimum order quantity for a order?
People ask these questions, because this is the way most manufacturing companies think and work. Why? Because most watch manufacturing companies only have one interest, which is to produce a large amount of watches.
We have a very different approach.
In the first place, we are based in the Netherlands. That means you get the Dutch practical and open mentality that many customers from Europe and North and South America experience as very pleasant.
Our goal is to work with you as a customer, to develop a nice watch that will generate demand from your customers with minimized financial risk for you.
How do we achieve that?
We only develop watches that are custom designed for you. We do not have a catalogue of often used cases, but each watch will be developed together with you. You decide the looks and the functional requirements.
We advise and will ensure that the choices that are made result in a cost price within your budget. If that is impossible, we will tell you upfront and we will propose alternative ways to reach your cost target. We do have our own designs to help you in your choices if you do not have a fixed design in mind yet. We keep an eye on parts availability, technical feasibility and alternative solutions that will increase quality or reduce manufacturing risks. We also advise on which movement to use from a technical point of view, but also advising on availability, price and order lead times.
We do try to add value, both from technical and design knowledge point of view, as well as from our purchase, sales and marketing experience. Our only goal is to help you being successful. Your succes is our success
Before we start, we have the following questions:
1- Do you already have a specific design you would like? And/or do you have a movement in your mind that you prefer?
2- Have you defined who will purchase the watch and why? Who is your target group? Why would people purchase your watch?
3- What is your target price to the end customer?
4- What margins do you require and did you include a provision for warranty, marketing etc?
5- What will your distribution look like? Direct sales, dealers, distributors? Did you include all margins in the calculation?
Combining the answers of the above, a maximum watch cost price will be decided upon. We will advise if it is possible to have the watch produced for this cost price given the functional and technical requirements.
For quartz movements our pricing starts from $50,-.
For automatic movements our prices start from $65,-.
Minimum order quantity of 300.
If necessary we will propose alternative solutions. If budget allows, we can propose to add various interesting design or material choices that might increase the sales potential of the product.
The design consists of two parts: a technical design, so we know exactly what technical parts we need, and a two-dimensional design.
When you are satisfied with the completed design we will again check the final design against the cost price target. At this point we will check cost price with our selected suppliers and start gathering quotes.
3 D design
The next stage is to convert the 2-dimensional design into a 3-dimensional design. A 3-dimensional design will help you to start the marketing and promotion of your ideas with your target group and/or distribution network. Our 3D renderings are highly life-like and provide a very good way to get a feeling for all angles of the design. The renders will assist you in setting up (crowd)funding, or to get a feel of the customers’ reaction on watch focus or social media. We have an extensive network to also assist you with this if you lack experience.
3 D film productions
Using our advanced rendering software, we also can provide 3D animated movies or 3D 360 degrees views of your renders. Very impactful for use on Social media, your web site, media partners etcetera.
Minimum investment and risks.
Because of this approach you keep your investment low at minimum risk. During the marketing and sales process it is possible to adjust the design as you have learned via the experience through trade. Only if the first response is good, you will decide on starting up production.
No minimum order quantities.
However, we always start with the production of a minimum of 300 watch cases. The good suppliers do not even start up a new case for lower quantities. This will be your largest investment.
All other parts we can produce in smaller numbers or arrange to be produced or to be purchased. For example; a timepiece can also be purchased in an amount of 40 pieces.
To purchase a watch band in smaller numbers is not a problem, the same goes for crystals ..etc. Normally it is possible to think in a modular way and design our watch in a number of variations. That way, you will be able to show a small collection instead of only one model.
A watch case can be made in different colors (PVD colors/ip plating) for example. In combination with different colors dials, you easily create a small line up that way.
Sometimes one watch case can be used to house various movements, increasing the versatility you get when going for a watch case investment.
This is all about clever thinking and using design/technical knowledge to optimize the return on investment.
Once we start the production and arrange for tooling it is possible for you to see product samples.
Minor adjustments can be done at this stage.
Upon agreement of final costs and 30% deposit, we will start the production.
A minimal production lead time is 12 weeks from this stage onwards, depending largely on availability of the requested movements.
